Calico Jack's
About This Spot
Walking into Calico Jack's is like stepping into a well-worn moment of local life, a laid-back beachside bar where time slows just enough to catch your breath. Nestled along Beach Road in Englewood, this spot quietly champions the charm of an old-school dive bar—dimly lit, smoky, and brimming with the kind of familiarity that comes from years of regulars slipping in and out like clockwork.
The mood here is unpretentious and unhurried, a rare slice of Florida’s coastal spirit where conversations flow as easily as the draft beers. You won’t find a flashy cocktail menu, but the simple comforts shine through—a cold beer, the occasional tequila sunrise ordered with friends, or a sausage pizza brought in to share. The rhythms of local bands often fill the air after dark, inviting a room that’s more about connection and less about crowd.
Inside, there’s a lively yet relaxed energy—pool tables echo with the clack of billiard balls, and friendly competition unfolds casually over darts or video bowling. The atmosphere is friendly and human, touched by the easy smiles of familiar faces behind the bar and in the booths. It’s a place where you can expect a warm nod from the bartenders, even if orders come with a gentle hometown pace.
Calico Jack's doesn't chase trends or city slickness. Instead, it offers the kind of authenticity that feels like an unhurried chat with neighbors, a refuge where locals gather to unwind and let the evening stretch out. Cash is king here, adding to the authentic dive bar vibe, and there’s an ATM inside for convenience—small details that keep it grounded and real.
If you're seeking a spot that embraces the mellow charm of a beach town’s nightlife, with a soundtrack of live music and the hum of good company, Calico Jack’s is a quietly enduring find where every visit becomes a small, familiar story.

Old school beach bar, dark and smoky like I like my dive bars to be! Definitely a more locals spot that has good local bands. The only thing was they only take cash which wasn't that big of a deal.

No frills dive bar with ice cold beer and great company. They have darts and video bowling! The bar is cash only and they have an ATM inside.

I read other rave reviews but I just don't understand. I arrived during happy hour which is pretty good by the way, and ordered a draft beer. After this I became invisible. The bartender asked me two more times what I was drinking and forgot me twice. I finally got my beer, paid and left. This is a good dive bar with a great local following. Live music usually after 9. They smoke in here which is a shock coming from places that banned that.
